About

Onset was established in 1981 when founders Ellen and Lon Hocker created their first low-power data logger in a barn in Massachusetts. In 1991, after ten years in business, the company first released its HOBO data loggers. These original HOBO data loggers cost less than $100 and were intended to log temperature data. The HOBO data loggers initiated a rise in popularity for Onset, and the company began to grow. In the following years, the company introduced several innovative products to the market including the first optic data shuttle, a 15-channel modular energy monitoring system, and the HOBO U30, a web-based data logging device.

Today, Onset offers perhaps the most advanced line of data loggers on the market. The pinnacle of this line are the HOBO Bluetooth Smart Data Loggers. These data loggers are capable of measuring and transmitting temperature and relative humidity data wirelessly to mobile devices through the use of Bluetooth technology. These are intended for indoor environments; range is 100 feet. Other notable data loggers from Onset include the HOBO indoor and outdoor wireless data loggers which transmit data to a PC, HOBO U30 data loggers which transmit data via an ethernet, cellular, or Wi-Fi connection, and a variety of HOBO USB data loggers for water level, temperature, relative humidity, and more.
