The Fluke Networks AM/A1580 AirMagnet Survey Pro and AirMagnet Spectrum XT software bundle is used for designing, deploying, and analyzing wireless networks over an 802.11 Wi-Fi infrastructure. It surveys WLAN sites and provides Wi-Fi performance, security, and RF spectrum analysis data to help deploy and troubleshoot indoor and outdoor WLANs. AirMagnet Survey PRO software verifies RF coverage and measures end-user network performance including connection speed, throughput, and packet statistics to help deploy optimized WLANs. AirMagnet Planner software (included with AirMagnet Survey PRO) helps network engineers design WLANs by modeling building construction materials, obstructions, and Wi-Fi access points to visualize coverage across multiple floors. AirMagnet Spectrum XT software classifies and locates sources of RF interference in 802.11 Wi-Fi networks to help diagnose problems in the environment that impact the performance of the wireless network, and provides network engineers with custom signatures to classify updated RF interference sources.
AirMagnet Survey PRO is compatible with Microsoft Windows 8, Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista (SP2), Microsoft Windows XP Professional (SP3), and Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 (SP3). It is also compatible with MAC OS X Leopard when running Windows XP PRO (SP3) using Boot Camp. AirMagnet Spectrum XT is compatible with Microsoft Windows 8, Microsoft Windows XP Professional (SP3), Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 Standard Edition, Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista (SP2), and Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 (SP3). It is also compatible with MAC OS X Leopard and MAC OS X Snow Leopard when running Windows XP PRO (SP3) or Microsoft Windows 7 using Boot Camp; or when running Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion running Windows XP PRO (SP3) or Microsoft Windows 7. The software is available as an individual license. An individual license is valid for a single installation. The software bundle comes with a Spectrum XT USB adapter. This software bundle is suitable for use by network engineers to design, deploy, and monitor wireless networks.
Portable networking devices are used to test and monitor the performance of wired and wireless networks in large organizations. Local-area networks (LANs) are made up of wiring, computers, servers, printers, phones, software applications, and networking devices in a limited geographic area such as an office or school. A wide-area network (WAN) contains similar devices and wiring, but encompasses a broad area, linking businesses or organizations across regional or national boundaries. Network engineers use portable networking devices to pinpoint connectivity or performance issues on a network, and to diagnose and solve network problems. Networking devices help troubleshoot copper or fiber optic cable wiring connections and wireless network infrastructure, ensuring that cables are connected and that network devices are working properly. They measure network performance and the network's ability to transfer data according to the organization's needs, and they can verify that software services within a network are available and responsive.
