BT521
3.0
The BT521 is a high end battery tester. The Probes are interesting: the short pair of the advanced probes came broken, Fluke is warrantying them out. (But still....). The probes require calibration EACH TIME you switch a set. And calibration is challenging, to say the least. You need two people. And it takes time. And repeated attempts.
The software: you CANNOT create templates without being connected to the instrument. ?!?! And I'm not sure what the Fluke Connect App really lets you do. It didn't seem to do anything.
All in all: well made, intuitive to use, easy to use (except the calibration proceedure), and the data logging is a great way to capture readings. But it has a 'personality,' as mentioned above, that you need to get used to. But, I have to say, the same is true of my 190-504, my 435-ii, and my 1625-2. It seems as though as the instrument capability goes up, so does its price and quirks.
That being said, I'd still rather own Fluke that anything else. If for no other reasons than Fluke's reliability, customer service, and the confidence it inspires in my clients, I'll keep them as my primary test tool.
And TEquipment.com as my preferred vendor.
