The HG1 includes tests for Target Evaporator Exit Temperature, Superheat, Subcooling, and Combustion Analysis. Software downloads and dial overlays will be available on this page as we add new test parameters to the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester. For more information on how the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester works, download the User Manual and the Quick Start Guide here.
The technician enters data on the INPUT FORM using Fieldpiece accessory heads or by manually inputting measurements from traditional tools such as a pressure gauge. Once the INPUT FORM is filled-in completely and the Customer ID entered, the technician presses Output. The OUTPUT FORM is displayed instantly, providing results of the test and references to the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester manual for further information.
Purchase the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester model HG1 with confidence. As new switch positions are added and software is updated, downloads will be posted right here on the site. Version upgrades and new switch positions will be available for a nominal fee. Firmware/software improvements will be made available free of charge.
Other manufacturers have been trying to develop an all-in-one test instrument for years with little success. Even newer models in direct competition with the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester today are less than optimal for the technician. We continue to work side-by-side with technicians in the field to develop our instruments. The HVAC GUIDE TM Tester works so well because it's easy to operate and is based on our unique modular expandability design concept perfected over the past 18 years.
- MULTIPLE PARAMETERS: Technicians get four (4) tests in one instrument: Target Evaporator Exit Temperature, Superheat, Subcooling, and Combustion Analysis.
- LOWER COST: Competitive all-in-one units are far more expensive. In fact, field technicians can purchase the HVAC Guide Tester and of all of the optional accessory heads for less than the price of one (1) combustion analyzer from the competition.
- ERGONOMIC DESIGN: The HVAC GUIDE TM Tester fits easily in your hand because it uses accessory heads with individual sensors to complete tests. Competitive all-in-one testers are bulky because they must include all of the sensors to complete multiple tests in the same instrument.
- MADE FOR TECHS WITH TECHS: As with all of our instruments, the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester was developed with you, the HVAC/R technician in mind.
Technicians can manually enter data into the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester when using standard tools such as a pressure gauge or manifold. For ultimate workflow use Fieldpiece Accessory Heads to automatically enter data. For less than the cost of a competitor's single parameter instrument, technicans can purchase the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester and the optional accessory heads needed to complete all four tests automatically. (Technicians can also enter data manually using their own gauges and the keypad on the HG1.) Optional accessory heads for the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester include:
- AOX2 COMBUSTION CHECK ACCESSORY HEAD: Original function - Measures %Oxygen (%O2) and stack temperature. Calculates %Carbon Dioxide (%CO2) in flue after combustion. Includes AOXP2 and ATBF1 hi-temp thermocouple (up to 900 deg. F).
WITH HG1: combines these parameters with CO measurements (taken with ACM3 or using your own equipment) to automatically calculate and generate the OUTPUT FORM which includes results for CO2, Excess O2, COAF (carbon monoxide air free), Net Temp, Standard Efficiency, Siegert Efficiency. See page 30 of the manual for full combustion analysis details.
- ACM3 CARBON MONOXIDE HEAD: Original Function - Measures Carbon Monoxide in PPM. Fast enough for walk-around tests.
WITH HG1: combines these parameters with measurements taken with AOX2 (or using your own equipment) to automatically calculate and generate the OUTPUT FORM which includes results for CO2, Excess O2, COAF (carbon monoxide air free), Net Temp, Standard Efficiency, Siegert Efficiency. AOXP2 hand pump (included with AOX2) attaches to sensor port for flue testing. See page 30 of the manual for full combustion analysis details.
- ASX14 SUPERHEAT & SUBCOOLING HEAD FOR A/C: Original function - Measures suction / liquid line pressure and temperature to automatically calculate actual superheat / subcooling for R-22 and R-410A. Includes ATC1 pipe-clamp thermocouple.
WITH HG1: uses pressure and line temperature measurements from the ASX14 instrument. (NOTE: Any Fieldpiece accessory head that measures line pressure and temp can be used with the HG1.) The technician selects from a list of 13 of the most common refrigerants stored in the HVAC GUIDE TM Tester.
Refer to the chart below to find the recommended accessory head and thermocouple for each measurement. Automatically input measurements directly with Fieldpiece accessories for maximum accuracy, or manually input from another source.
