Overview
The FLIR C3 is a step-up from its predecessor, the C2. The C3 improves on the capabilities of the C2 by including several improved features, more flexible image modes, and wireless connectivity. The main difference between the two is Wi-Fi connectivity – the C3 is Wi-Fi enabled and connects instantly with mobile devices, so you can upload data to the FLIR Tools App and report critical issues immediately. With the C2, you can also import images and data into the FLIR Tools App for analysis, but you cannot do so wirelessly. The C3 will save you time in the long run.
The C3 also includes a new image mode generally reserved for high end cameras, the area box measurement. Area Box mode lets you define a square measurement area and determine the lowest or highest temperature in the box. The C3 also includes Picture in Picture mode, giving you a defined IR area on top of a visual image.
Other than these differences, the FLIR C2 and C3 are basically the same camera. Both feature video streaming to the FLIR Tools App so you can see live images from the camera on an external screen – this feature is normally only found on higher-end cameras like the FLIR E60. Both feature a 3-inch touch screen, 80 × 60 pixel thermal resolution, < 0.10°C thermal sensitivity, 2-hour battery life, and FLIR’s unique MSX technology.
