Tools You Need for Industrial Predictive Maintenance
To maximize uptime, you need tools that help you effectively maintain the efficiency and performance of your plant's equipment. Extech's MA620-K Kit equips you with two versatile tools — a 600A True RMS AC clamp meter with integrated non-contact voltage (NCV) detector, and an industrial-grade digital multimeter. These two tools can help users detect, diagnose and repair problems before they shut down a production line, affect product quality, or delay critical customer shipments. The right-sized Extech MA620 clamp meters offer plant maintenance techs and electricians a test instrument with a host of advanced functions beyond its robust current measurement capabilities. Learn more about each tool below. The Extech EX505 industrial multimeter is designed to perform in extreme environments. Learn about these tools below:
MA620 600A True RMS Autoranging AC Clamp Meter
The right-sized MA620 clamp meters offer plant maintenance techs and electricians a test instrument with a host of advanced functions beyond its robust current measurement capabilities. Compact and easy to hold, the MA620's True RMS and autoranging functions makes is easier to capture accurate and quick readings in industrial environments or commercial job sites. The meter's 600A rating and ample 1.5 inches (40mm) jaw opening can accommodate most jobs, swallowing conductors up to 750 MCM. The MA620 is full-feature instrument. You can select auto- or manual-ranging and measurement functions cover all types of troubleshooting over and above noninvasive current probe measurements: voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, duty cycle, diode and continuity tests. Even measure temperature with the supplied Type K bead wire probe. In addition, the large, illuminated, dual display makes it easier to perform inspections in poorly lit areas. The 4-digit (6,000 count) readout is complemented by a bargraph display to simulate an analog display, and the meter's thumb-dial selector that ergonomically placed off the side of the meter means the MA620 can be used one-handed.
True RMS Enhances Diagnostics
It can be very difficult to make accurate current and voltage readings in industrial and commercial applications when electronic devices are present. Fluorescent lights, motor drives, computer power supplies, and other electronic systems can distort the AC waveform, making it difficult for averaging meters to capture accurate readings. The MA620's True RMS capability utilizes a more advanced formula to compensate for this kind of distortion. Also for improved diagnostics and troubleshooting users are able to select one of several one-button functions: press HOLD to freeze a reading on the LCD; MAX/MIN tracks and display maximum and minimum values (useful for blind measurements); and REL activates Relative mode for "zeroing out" the meter, useful for improving the accuracy of DC current measurements.
Other Features
One important safety tool that is built in to the MA620 is a non-contact voltage (NCV) detector. The detector quickly identifies the presence of voltage on live wires and alerts the user with a red LED indicator. For you, this eliminates the need for a separate tester, offering you more value, added safety, and less tool bag clutter.
Extech EX505 Industrial DMM
The Extech EX505 was designed specifically for industrial, plant maintenance, MRO, electrical and other professionals who demand a meter as tough as you. The waterproof and drop-proof EX505 Industrial Multimeter delivers essential multimeter capabilities you need along with True RMS precision. Designed to withstand harsh environments and usage, the meter's rugged, double-molded housing is IP67-rated (waterproof and dustproof) as well as drop-tested to 6 feet. The large, illuminated LCD displays a 4-digit readout (to 4,000 counts). The EX505 is capable of capturing critical measurements, including capacitance, frequency (dual sensitivity for electrical and electronic applications), diode and continuity functions. You also get convenient, one-button access to frequently used functions: Data Hold and Relative Hold as well as selectable auto-ranging or manual-ranging. To avoid fussing with selecting the right measurement range when working on a variety of components from small electronics to main electrical sources, the meter automatically adjusts with autoranging. As with the clamp meter, the EX505 features True RMS, which enables troubleshooters to capture truer readings in the presence of non-sinusoidal waveforms and noise. The meter can also take temperature measurements using the DMM's Type K bead wire probe. The meter features 0.5 percent accuracy and it is backed by a CATIV overvoltage safety rating, protecting users even on outdoor wiring.
