I do handyman / home improvement- I am not an electrician - Half the time I don't know what I'm doing (after 40years, I have an idea)... But this thing has saved me "Hours & Hours" of tacking down wires - It's easy to find Hot wires (Stick your tongue to it), but dead wires are impossible (a bunch of guessing & blowing things up)... I've used this for Houses & Vehicles - You can identify "which wires are which" and tell if a wire has a "Break" in it... And - - You use it places that you can't "see" it - It beeps or places you can't "hear" it - It flashes... I've had this one for 15 years or so and finally screwed it up - I blow the fuse & then put foil over the fuse (until I got a new fuse),but never got a new fuse and burnt a small wire out... First check to see if wires are Hot - (Disconnect them) and then you can trace them and match them (see what white wire goes to what black wire).

Just what we wanted

The Extech CT20 is just what we wanted it allows us to trace wires in our home with tearing holes in the walls.

The product was reasonable priced and delivery over the holiday season was faster than expected.
