Purchased the Extech CO30 because of its user selectable carbon monoxide ppm alarm capability. It may be set to alarm at 25 ppm, 30 ppm, 35 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm or 200 ppm. The lower limit is especially important to alert and therefore prevent carbon monoxide poisoning in animals. Sadly, our kitty, Shooting Star, was poisoned by carbon monoxide and we were unaware that the flue to our boiler was allowing carbon monoxide to build up over time within the boiler room and throughout our home. Our previous carbon monoxide monitor did not alarm because its alarm is factory set to 100 ppm and is NOT user selectable. The Extech CO30 is a wonderful product and we are very happy that it is now used in our boiler room to alarm at 25 ppm so that people (and animals) are alerted if there are any carbon monoxide poisoning threats. Wish we would have had this product to prevent losing our kitty because of carbon monoxide poisoning.
