Emerson 475 Field Communicator
Emerson introduces the 475 Field Communicator, the next generation in handheld communicator technology. The Field Communicator extends beyond device configuration functionality to provide device diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities in the field and on the bench. Quick boot-up and fast operating time mean that jobs can be performed quickly and easily, while longer battery life ensures days, not hours, of operation. The intrinsically safe 475 Field Communicator supports HART, WirelessHART and Foundation Fieldbus devices. Note: Intrinsically safe, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, and Bluetooth are optional depending on model configuration.
Emerson 475 Field Communicator Ordering Advice
|
- Code F
The 475 comes standard with HART communications. FOUNDATION Fieldbus is optional, so determine if your facility uses FOUNDATION Fieldbus or might upgrade in the future. Contractors are recommended to get the FOUNDATION Fieldbus option for greatest flexibility.
- Code 1
We strongly recommend obtaining the Power Supply / Charger option. Only exception is when the user already has it.
- Code KL
If the 475 will be used in hazardous areas (where flammable gases might be present, for example), the KL option is certified Intrinsically Safe. Contractors are recommended to obtain this option for greatest flexibility.
- Code T
Bluetooth Communications is a no charge option, but permitted in the United States and the countries in this document: Countries with 475 Bluetooth Approval Emerson had to get specific approval for the 475 in each country. If your country is not on the list, the 475 with Bluetooth T code (even turned off in menu) is not permitted by the country.
- Code U
Easy Upgrade (3 yr) Option is strongly recommended. Emerson tests new device drivers from manufacturers offering HART and FOUNDATION Fieldbus instruments. As new and enhanced instruments are offered, so are new device drivers. The Easy Upgrade option permits 475 users to upgrade their unit to be compatible with the changes.
- Code S
We strongly recommend the blue protective Rubber Boot with Stand. Protecting your significant investment is just a small price adder
Considering the above comments, the four most popular models are:
475HP1EKLUGMTS HART Communicator with Power Supply / Charger, Intrinsically Safe, Easy Upgrade, Bluetooth, and Protective Rubber Boot with Stand options. #1 most popular model.
475FP1EKLUGMTS HART and FOUNDATION Fieldbus Communicator with Power Supply / Charger, Intrinsically Safe, Easy Upgrade, Bluetooth, and Protective Rubber Boot with Stand options. #2 most popular model.
If your facility does not have hazardous area classification, then here are the above two models without the KL Intrinsically Safe option.
475HP1ENAUGMTS HART Communicator with Power Supply / Charger, Easy Upgrade, Bluetooth, and Protective Rubber Boot with Stand options.
475FP1ENAUGMTS HART and FOUNDATION Fieldbus Communicator with Power Supply / Charger, Easy Upgrade, Bluetooth, and Protective Rubber Boot with Stand options.

The 475 enables diagnosis and troubleshooting in the field to streamline daily maintenance activities. The latest version of the Easy Upgrade capability provides an interface for users to quickly and easily update their communicator onsite via the internet. Through Bluetooth communication, users can update their 475 Field Communicator with the latest Device Descriptions for their field devices.
The full-color LCD display provides an intuitive graphical interface that supports trend charts, gauges and graphics in enhanced Device Descriptions. The color display aids troubleshooting through high-contrast images. Users can also store up to 1,000 device configurations in the 475 Field Communicator or transmit them wirelessly between the communicator and a PC for printing and storage (optional).
More than doubling the battery life of a typical NiMH battery, the 475 Field Communicator's Lithium-Ion power module ensures that users will have the power they need to get the job done.

(1) Base Model 475 includes Field Communicator unit with Color LCD display, System Card, leadset with connectors, carrying case, Getting Started Guide, Resource CD, stylus, and straps.
(2) Must specify Easy Upgrade Option (Code U) when ordering this model option.
(3) To obtain an Australia power cord, order part number 00375-0003-0003.
(4) This option should only be considered if the user already has a 375 or 475 Power Supply/Charger. If it is a 375 Power Supply / Charger, it must be the Li-Ion/NiMH version.
(5) The Easy Upgrade capability allows users to add new System Application software and Device Descriptions (DDs) to the 475 for a period of 3 years. To upgrade without this feature, the System Card would have to be sent to a Service Center.
(6) The Graphics functionality enables a user to access enhanced graphical features when using the HART or FOUNDATION Fieldbus application.
(7) Device Configuration Management provides the capability to store in excess of 1,000 configurations and print them.
(8) Bluetooth enables communication to a PC via the Bluetooth protocol.
(9) A fully charged Lithium-Ion Power Module is capable of delivering power for 20 hours of typical field use. If requirements exceed this specification, a Spare Power Module (code A)
should be specified. |
