Desco Statshield Moisture Barrier Bags are intended to protect electronic items such as Surface Mount Devices (SMD's) from moisture and electrostatic damage during manufacture, transportation, and storage. They protect their contents with specialized layers of film that control the Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR). Surface mount devices need to be kept dry between the time of manufacture and the point of reflow soldering.

The Desco Statshield foil moisture barrier bag provides protection for ESD sensitive and moisture sensitive electronics, typically SMT (Surface Mount Technology) items. Best practice is to use with Desiccant and a Humidity Indicator Card. Bags are printed with ESD protective and moisture sensitive warning symbols, and a lot code for traceability. The Desco Statshield foil moisture barrier bags are manufactured from a laminate of polyester, foil, and polyethylene. The metal layer provides discharge shielding and minimizes the penetration of electric fields and electrostatic discharges.
