DESCO ion bars have been designed to effectively eliminate localized static charges that exist in the work area. The Ion Bar System is a pulsed DC ionizer. The bar's emitters have alternating polarities over the length of the bar. This design results in less ion recombination than when the same emitter is used to output both polarities. This system meets the ANSI/ESD S20.20 required limit of less than ± 50 volts offset voltage (balance) tested in accordance with ANSI/ESD STM3.1. Per S20.20 Discharge Time, required limits are "user-defined".
DESCO ion bars are available in several sizes, and in the airless or air-assisted format. The charts below provide an overview of each. Please see the documents section on this page for more detailed diagrams and dimensional information.
These measurements are taken with a Charged Plate Monitor placed below two consecutive emitters. The pulsing rate is adjustable from 1 to 20 Hz and will need to be customized depending on application requirements. Values will vary with the environment and particular application.
DESCO ion bars require a controller to operate (sold separately) - the 50855 is recommended. The 50940 is a basic controller with recessed potentiometer adjustment. It enables two adjustments - balance (offset voltage) and rate. The 50855 is a more robust device with control buttons, a digital screen, RS-485 input, and more.
