The transition away from R22 refrigerant in the HVAC market has given rise to numerous R22 replacement refrigerants. While R410A dominates the market in new systems, it is not generally suitable to replace R22 in existing installations. This is where the R22 replacements come into play. Unlike automotive systems, HVAC applications use the same fitting regardless of the refrigerant contained inside leading to a risk that the refrigerant inside the unit is not what's on the label.
