The Pro400 Graphical TDR is a great tool for locating faults in metallic cables with 2 conductors. Twisted pair, coax, LAN cabling, etc. are simple to test for distances to shorts, opens, etc. By connecting the leads to the cable to test, a graphical display quickly and easily shows faults and ‘events’ on that cable. In addition, the Pro400 transmits a standard analog tracing tone for use with common tone probes to find the termination point of a cable. Advanced signal processing techniques enable the Pro400 to find opens, short circuits, splices, taps, water ingress and other more elusive impedance mismatches. A built-in tone generator also provides a tone for wire tracing and identification. Selectable cable impedance matching, along with variable velocity factor, enable the Pro400 to be used to test all communication cables, including twisted pair and coaxial, with graphical results and fault distances displayed on a dot matrix LCD. The TDR/Toner is housed in a tough, ruggedised ABS plastic moulding, water and dust proof to IP54, and supplied complete with test leads and a protective tool-belt holster. The Pro400 is designed and manufactured to international standards for quality, safety and reliability.

Armada Pro400 TDR
4.0
First of all I am a landscaping contractor, not an electronics technician. I use various equipment to diagnose direct burial irrigation wiring. I do own a Fluke TS100 TDR. but it is limited in giving me enough information on wire/cable conditions. The Armada Pro400 TDR is an entry level display TDR but then again I am an entry level user. Luckily Armada has videos explaining how to use the TDR which I found to be useful. The Armada suits my needs in finding wiring faults, insulation nicks, opens, shorts, irrigation solenoids and more recently, digital decoders for 2-wire irrigation systems. Now I just need to find a known buried cable length to set the VoP and then practice, practice, and more practice.
