Great multimeter, great value

This a great multimeter for the price when I bought it on May 2021 (about $160). I see it's going for $235 today!
One thing that drives me crazy: the backlight only stays on for 30 seconds. C'mon Amprobe -give us a couple minutes (or better yet, let us have a user accessible setting for the backlight duration)
However, did have not have a great support experience:
The stand on the back was difficult to open/close and soon the belt clip (which is what the friction point for the stand was) snapped off. Since this happened 2 weeks after I received the unit, it was still under warranty (and even within TEquipment's 30 day return window). I tried to get Amprobe to just send out another belt clip piece that I could screw on; they told me to talk to TEquipment since I had just purchased the multimeter. TEEquipment wanted photos (!) which I sent then never heard back about.
I didn't really care about the belt clip - never planned to use it. I just figured that a brand new unit should get a broken plastic part replaced. But the runaround over something that I didn't care about was too much to keep chasing, so I let it drop.
5 stars for the multimeter, 3 stars (maybe) for the customer service. I think they would have replaced the part (or the whole meter) if I had kept at it. But they should have just sent me the $5 (at most) part.
Fluke provides parts diagrams with a part number for everything down to the screws - why not Amprobe?

This has been magnificent for working with low-voltage electronics. The DMM and probes are all well constructed and rather solid. Compared to a number of more expensive meters we have at work, I would prefer this any day.

Positive: The AM-140-A feels to the hand like a good, solid product. Tear-down reviews on line confirm this impression and also confirm the inherent safety of this DMM's design. Negative: I wish the supplied probes were better, and I was unhappy to find that the DMM arrived with a 9V battery installed, since a bad battery could have damaged the DMM while it waited to be sold. However, I received one with no battery leakage problems.
I have used it so far only for routine voltage, resistance and capacitance measurements, so I can't comment on timing-oriented measurements, such as duty cycle.
It's worth adding that TEquipment's customer-favorable pricing removed the temptation to buy the AM-140-A or its Brymen-labeled version via international mail order. BTW, the DMM reached my door four days after order, which is wonderful and confirms that it was an in-stock item.

This is my favorite handheld DMM of the half dozen or so we have in the shop (including a couple of nice yellow meters). The precision, display size, backlighting, and feature set are just what we need. My only wish would be to have a slightly smaller case without compromising the display size.

This has proven to be one of my better investments in work bench test equipment. The 140-A provides a robust set of features especially in the context of the price point (with the best price here at tequipment.net). The accuracy is well within the Amprobe's stated specifications - at least with the test equipment I have available.
Definitely a good addition to my tool kit...

I needed a higher precision DMM for an upcoming project and ordered the AM-140-A due to the price and solid online reviews. I have no complaints so far. The unit is built well and the measurement readings are accurate. It doesn't have a temperature probe, but I've never really needed one. My other DMM is a more basic Fluke model. I think the Amprobe is an excellent primary or secondary DMM.
